Keywest
Sep 19In just 12 months, Irish band Keywest have grown from 25,000 to over 230,000 Instagram followers, a testament to their powerful live performances, genuine connection with fans, and word-of-mouth buzz across Europe and beyond. But for all the numbers, Keywest's story is still rooted where it began on the street. This five-piece band built their reputation as full-time buskers, performing on city corners day after day, forging a deep, loyal fanbase the old-fashioned way. And while they’ve gone on to achieve multiple No.1 albums and singles, millions of streams, and radio airplay across Ireland, the UK, and Europe, they still regularly return to the streets, not only for promotion, but because it’s part of who they are. Fully independent once again, Keywest are hitting a new stride. Their most recent sold-out tour across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe proved that the same authenticity that draws a crowd on the street can just as easily fill venues across the continent. They’ve even caught the eye of industry icons like Sheryl Crow and Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson), who’ve publicly shown their support yet the band remain grounded, focused on the music and the community around it. Keywest offer something rare: the reach and polish of a major act, with the heart and hustle of true street performers. Whether on a festival stage or a pavement corner, their connection with audiences is immediate and unforgettable.

The Lemonheads
Sep 17The Lemonheads returned in 2025 with Love Chant (out via Fire Records, October 24th), their first studio album in nearly two decades - a bold, melodic reaffirmation of Evan Dando’s singular songwriting voice. Written across continents and recorded primarily in São Paulo, Brazil, where Dando now resides, Love Chant finds the frontman reconnecting with longtime collaborators while introducing new creative voices. It’s a record of fresh starts and familiar sounds - emotionally raw, melodically rich, and unmistakably Lemonheads. The new album features contributions from J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), Juliana Hatfield, Tom Morgan, Bryce Goggin, Erin Rae, and Nick Saloman of The Bevis Frond. It’s a diverse but coherent work - from the full-throttle hooks of “Deep End” to the spectral softness of “The Key Of Victory,” and the Modern Lovers-like drive of the title track. Co-released alongside Dando’s forthcoming memoir Rumours Of My Demise (via Faber, November 6th), Love Chant marks both a return and a reckoning - the sound of an artist who’s lived, lost, and located the thread once again. Formed in Boston in 1986, The Lemonheads have long thrived on that intersection between chaos and charm. With a revolving cast built around Dando’s melodic instincts and ragged charisma, their early punk roots were forged across three scrappy albums on local label Taang! before signing to Atlantic Records and releasing 1990’s Lovey. It was on tour for that record in Australia where Dando connected with Tom Morgan and future bandmate Nic Dalton - a meeting that reshaped the band’s songwriting and sound. Their commercial breakthrough came with 1992’s It’s A Shame About Ray and 1993’s Come On Feel The Lemonheads, both records that married punk energy with melodic pop, and established Dando as one of alternative rock’s most compelling figures. National TV appearances followed, and so did the tabloid glare - by the late ’90s, the music sometimes took a backseat to Dando’s unpredictable, chaotic public persona. He disbanded The Lemonheads in 1997 following a turbulent performance at Reading Festival. In 2003, he released his acclaimed solo album Baby I’m Bored - quieter and more introspective, it hinted at a new phase. But it wasn’t long before The Lemonheads were reborn. In 2006, a self-titled album marked a head-on collision of wordy ’70s punk and cosmic country, followed by Varshons (2009) and Varshons 2 (2019), two mixtape-like collections of cover versions that spanned Townes Van Zandt to GG Allin, Leonard Cohen to The Bevis Frond - always with the same emotional clarity and melodic magnetism that defines Dando’s output. Over the years, The Lemonheads’ shape has shifted - Descendents, Dinosaur Jr, Blake Babies and members of Fuzzy have all passed through the ranks - but at its core has always been Dando’s songwriting: wry, vulnerable, catchy, and true. With Love Chant, that core burns brightly once more. Recent years have only deepened the band’s influence. Artists like Courtney Barnett, Waxahatchee, Phoebe Bridgers and MJ Lenderman cite The Lemonheads as touchstones, covering their songs and praising their emotional candor and melodic economy As Record Collector noted, “The Lemonheads have always been recognised as purveyors of grade-A pop punk.” Or, in Rolling Stone’s words: “Few bands have been able to walk the line between the angst of grunge and the warmth of folk quite as elegantly as The Lemonheads.”

Laura Veirs
Sep 22Portland, Oregon-based singer-songwriter, Laura Veirs, blends the poetic sensibilities of folk with the rough edges of indie rock. Her career has seen her collaborate with luminaries such as kd lang, Neko Case, Sufjan Stevens, Jim James, The Decemberists, Bill Frisell and many more. 2026 sees Laura return with her new album, Temple Songs— her first in four years and the first she has written, recorded, arranged, produced and performed entirely on her own. It captures a songwriter in peak form. The album is intimate, dreamy, brave and quietly defiant, built around Veirs’ intricate fingerstyle nylon-string guitar, vulnerable vocals and bold electric guitar embellishments. The new songs lend themselves perfectly to being performed live in a stripped-back form, with Laura accompanied only by Karl Blau on electric guitar.

The Scratch
Sep 24Close your eyes and pull like a dog,” was the answer once given by Irish Olympic rowers Gary and Paul O’Donovan in a 2016 interview, when asked to describe their game plan for an upcoming race. The phrase – previously non-existent – caught on and has since become cultural shorthand for the straightforward tenacity required to do pretty much anything. For Dublin-based four-piece The Scratch, the phrase came to represent a collective headspace going into their forthcoming album – titled Pull Like A Dog, scheduled for release on 6th March 2026 via Sony Music Ireland. “It’s just another way of saying ‘send it’ and see what happens,” Daniel “Lango” Lang (cajón, percussion, lead vocals) explains. “It’s a motivating phrase we needed, at the time, to inspire a bit of gusto.” When a video of the band playing at the Rory Gallagher International Festival in Ballyshannon went viral in 2017, it brought opportunities for The Scratch to become a much bigger project than they initially envisaged. Signed to Sony Music Ireland, The Scratch’s second album Mind Yourself (2023) debuted at #1on the Irish Vinyl Charts, #3 on the IRMA Weekly Album Chart, was nominated for Irish Album of the Year at The Choice Music Prize, plus an appearance on Ireland’s #1 TV show The Late Late Show. Additionally, the band has garnered support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6, plus most recently, their music featured in Netflix’s brand-new drama series House of Guinness, from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. In a league of their own when it comes to live performances, the high-voltage folk-metal band have been busy touring the past few months. From hitting the road with the Dropkick Murphys across the US, packing-out festival sets across Europe, supporting Dermot Kennedy in Australia and performing at the UK’s Download Festival, the band are showing no signs of slowing down. The band’s third album Pull Like A Dog is a refinement of the acoustic/electric, folk/metal fusion they laid out on Mind Yourself, resulting in the band’s most polished, high-octane album to date. “As a band, this feels like a new beginning,” says Conor (guitar, backing vocals). “I think the changes we’ve faced have given us a lot of room to grow, maybe into roles we felt were off limits before. Openness, perseverance, and positivity – this album embodies all of that.” The Scratch is Conor Dockery, Cathal McKenna, Daniel Lang, and Gary Regan.

How I Became A Wave
Nov 6How I Became A Wave is the solo project of Cork-based artist Pat Carey, formerly of the acclaimed indie band, The Hard Ground. Blending literary and natural world influences with lush strings and steel pedal guitars, the music of How I Became A Wave speaks to the soul through considered lyrics and quietly rousing melodies. This is aggressively quiet music that by its very nature provides an antidote to the cacophony of today’s world. Drawing inspiration from writers like Mary Oliver, Eavan Boland, Max Porter, Sylvia Plath, Seamus Heaney, Doireann Ní Ghríofa and Sara Baume, and musical influences such as Paul Buchanan, Bon Iver, Big Thief, Nils Frahm and Anaïs Mitchell, How I Became A Wave reflects on love, loss and the quiet significance of everyday moments. How I Became A Wave’s forthcoming debut album features contributions from some of Ireland’s most respected musicians, including Carey’s former Hard Ground bandmates Davie Ryan and Hugh Dillon, pianist Rory McCarthy, cellists Laura McFadden and Aoife Burke, and multi- instrumentalist Brian Casey, among others. RTÉ Concert Orchestra composer Cormac McCarthy has arranged a number of pieces on the album. Each musician brings a quiet depth to the record, enriching its layered, reflective sound. Live support slots with Joan Shelley, Lisa Hannigan, Villagers, Gemma Hayes, Niamh Regan, Ailbhe Reddy, John Spillane and more further cement the quality of this project, demonstrating the backing it has received from some of the genre’s most respected artists. Festival appearances at Your Roots Are Showing, Quiet Lights and Sounds From A Safe Harbour have continued to build momentum, introducing the work to new audiences. In addition to new single ‘Sea Swell’, the album features previously- released singles ‘05:00’, ‘Fading Out’ and ‘Cycles’, all of which have received strong support from the likes of RTÉ Radio 1, BBC Radio Ulster, Red FM, Galway Bay FM, The Irish Independent, Nialler9, Genuine Irish, Hot Press, Golden Plec and more. How I Became A Wave was recently named in the Irish Independent’s Ones to Watch for 2026. They wrote: “Pat Carey makes music that quietly acknowledges the strength it takes to be vulnerable, and the comfort that comes from creativity and collaboration” – perfectly summing up the ethos of this project, which has been a long time in the making.

Michael McGovern
Oct 25Glasgow-born singer-songwriter Michael McGovern blends poetic lyricism with folk roots, evolving beyond his acclaimed debut Highfield Suite. His new album Thin White Road showcases full-band arrangements, literary influences, and viral single ‘Evelyn‘, cementing him as a compelling new contemporary folk voice. Michael’s poetic lyrics and fingerpicked nylon-string guitar craft a deeply emotional folk sound. His debut album, Highfield Suite (2021), recorded during isolation in 2020 and produced by Bill Shanley, earned critical praise across the UK and Ireland. Including BBC Album of the Week, RTE Lyric feature, and an “unexpected gem” nod from folk legend Paul Brady. His new album Thin White Road marks a confident step forward, expanding on his folk roots with full-band arrangements, layered harmonies, and touches of saxophone and strings. The breakout single ‘Evelyn‘ went viral in early 2025, sparking a wave of online covers. The album draws on literary influences like Laurie Lee, Hunter S. Thompson, and T.S. Michael’s live shows are celebrated for their emotional impact and warmth. Thin White Road confirms him as one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary folk.
