With 53 Academy Award nominations, he ranks second only to Walt Disney. Williams has worked closely with legendary directors such as Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Alfred Hitchcock, Oliver Stone, and Chris Columbus. He has also composed music for the 1984, 1988 and 1996 Summer Olympic Games, as well as the 2002 Winter Olympics. In autumn 2023, he was appointed an Honorary Knight of the United Kingdom.
