Spanning five crushing tracks, the record drags listeners through murky soundscapes of despair, defiance, and decay, a pure distillation of the band’s grim, suffocating take on sludge and doom. Nihilistic Majesties captures The Larches at their most feral and focused. Recorded at Harbourmaster Studios in South Shields and mixed/mastered by Martin Trolloppe, the EP channels the suffocating atmosphere of early sludge pioneers while pushing further into textured noise and slow-motion chaos. “This record is a sermon from the void — five hymns for a world unraveling,” says vocalist Noah Annandale “It’s the sound of what’s left when everything else burns away.” From the relentless churn of “Raxidermy” to the hard riffing, meditative sprawl of “Dopeslut”, Nihilistic Majesties stands as both a declaration and a descent — a brutal meditation on power, emptiness, and transcendence through volume.
