Let There B/DC
Oct 2From the promoter of the original line-up of AC/DC including Bon Scott on the Power Age Tour in 1978 (including the ABC Colchester), John Hessenthaler presents Let There B/DC - The AC/DC Show at The Maltings, Ely. What makes AC/DC such an exciting, pulse pounding band and how do we recreate the fire of their live performances? That’s the main question we asked ourselves when we fired up the rock and roll train that was to become LET THERE B/DC way back in February 2011. From the very start we knew it had to be raw, exciting and authentic as possible. Recapturing the essence of an AC/DC performance was never going to be easy, but countless fans have told us time and time again that we’ve succeeded and are the closest thing they've ever heard to the real thing. Our current five man line-up have had AC/DC running through their veins since childhood and our passion for the music injects the venom into every 2 hour plus show that we play. We deliver all the favourites such as Highway to Hell, Whole Lotta Rosie and Thunderstruck together with rare and seldom heard album tracks such as Walk All Over You, Soul Stripper, Kicked in The Teeth and many many more. With our 3 longest serving members consisting of Neil (Malcolm Young/Guitar), Paddy (Phil Rudd/Drums) and Steve (Cliff Williams/Bass) making up the ‘engine room’, it gives Dave (Angus Young/Guitar) and Andrew (Brian Johnson/Bon Scott/Vocals) room to really fly and take our show to a whole new level. We pride ourselves on never usually playing the same set list twice, so you never know what you might hear! Whether you’ve been a fan from the very beginning or never seen us live before, we go all out in every show to give you a night to remember for a very long time. There’s only one thing left to say…… Are You Ready For A Good Time?!" ‘This show is not to be missed for all AC/DC fans. Accurate in every way - For those about to Rock we salute you!‘ (John Hessenthaler). This show is for a STANDING audience - unreserved seats available around the edge of the hall for those who wish to sit. For all enquiries / disabled bookings, please call the Box Office on: 01256 416384.

The Jersey Boys by The Ragdolls
Oct 24“The Ragdolls” will take you on a musical journey through the well known career of one of the most successful bands of all time “Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons”. Having listened to some classic songs such as “Sherry, Walk Like A Man, Oh What A Night, Big Girls Don't Cry, Working My Way Back To You, Let's Hang On, Why Do Fools Fall In Love” and many more…..”The Ragdolls” recreate the iconic sound of the “Jersey Boys.” In the first part of the show the Boys take you back to where it all began, recreating cover versions of 50’s songs as the Four Seasons did including hits such as Still of the Night, Oh Carol, Teenager in Love, and Why do Fools Fall in Love. With slick choreography and the recognisable falsetto this really sets the scene. Acoustic versions of songs are a highlight in this part which show off the diversity and harmonic sounds as once done by the great band themselves. By the end of the first half, you will definitely be “hanging on” to your seats and “beggin” for more. The second half of the show is truly party time, where all the well famous hits come out such as, Cant Take My Eyes off You, Ragdoll, Walk Like A Man, Grease, and many more.. The show leads up to a roof blowing finale where the red jackets come out and the room is electrified with that good old 50’s flare with a medley of songs having you dancing and singing in the aisles. This is a show you do not want to miss out on. This show is Reserved Seating - seats will be allocated on the day. For all enquiries / disabled bookings, please call the Box Office on 07879 208141.

Gentleman's Dub Club - 20th Anniversary Tour
Oct 30Formed in Leeds in 2006, Gentleman’s Dub Club (GDC) has spent two decades at the forefront of the UK’s dub and reggae landscape. What began as a eight-piece ensemble in a Headingley basement has evolved into an internationally touring outfit, recognized for a high-output studio discography and a live show that bridges the gap between traditional roots reggae and modern bass music. The band’s origins are rooted in sound system culture, specifically inspired by the Iration Steppas, and the long-running SubDub nights in Leeds. This foundational focus on low-end theory earned them early and sustained backing from the UK’s primary reggae tastemakers. Notably, the band has been consistently championed by David Rodigan MBE, who has labeled them "one of the most energetic and exciting live bands in the country." Their music has been a staple on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, receiving rotation from figures including Don Letts, Huw Stephens, and Mistajam. Since their debut EP Members Only (2009) and their breakthrough full-length FOURtyFOUR (2013), the Gents have maintained one of the most rigorous touring schedules in the industry. Their 20-year milestone follows performances at Glastonbury, Outlook Festival (Croatia), Boomtown Fair, Boardmasters, the West Coast America, India, Rototom, Summer Jam, to name a few. With eight studio albums to their name—primarily released through the influential Easy Star Records—the band enters 2026 with their core lineup largely intact, continuing to serve as a vital link between the heritage of UK dub and its future evolution. - Specific set times are only made available on the day of the event, please check the venue’s website page for the most up to date information. 14+, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Caitlin Moran - How To Be Hopeful
Sep 14How to be Hopeful - A Year of Attempting to Feel Less Awful About the World Doors: 18:30 Start: 19:30 ‘No one’s inventing good, new futures any more,’ I say to my husband, Pete. ‘Everyone seems resigned to accepting that things will be dreadful. I can’t bear it. I need us to do something different.’ One morning, Caitlin Moran woke up - and realised that she had reached Peak Despair. And she’s not alone - in a world of worsening news, online fist-fights, and filthy rivers, it’s hard not to feel, well, terrible. Of course, in books, and movies, when the heroine faces such a crisis, she makes a seismic life-change: moving to a remote, ramshackle farmhouse; walking an ancient, 600-mile pathway; or reconnecting with her primal, joyful self by adopting a baby hawk, or hare. But Caitlin’s new book, How to be Hopeful, is not that kind of book. She tried – but it turns out remote Welsh farmhouses are really expensive. No-one with a job can walk 600 miles. And it’s incredibly hard to get access to baby hawks in North London. Instead, Caitlin decided to go on … a domestic quest. To see if she could stay in the same house, in the same neighbourhood, and the same awful modern world - but try to make better days. She left 800,000 followers on social media; eschewed 24/7 rolling-news for local newspapers; and sat on buses without headphones, to start listening to what people are really saying. Turns out they’re not, by and large, shouting hate-crimes at each other. They’re just working out whether to have chicken, or sausages for tea, instead. Picking litter, donating blood, rewilding a garden, trying to understand where modern anxiety really comes from - slowly, all these things allowed for something that had felt impossible a year before: Caitlin learned to fall back in love with the world again. How to be Hopeful is Caitlin’s story of how, over the course of a year, she realised that “waiting to feel hopeful again” just won’t work: being hopeful is a decision. It’s something - like laundry - you have to do. How To Be Hopeful is the diary of how one person started to do hopeful. To celebrate the release of her brand-new book, Sunday Times Bestselling author Caitlin Moran will be heading out on tour accompanied by special guest hosts. There will be an opportunity to put your questions to Caitlin and buy a signed hardback copy of How to be Hopeful. About Caitlin Moran Caitlin Moran is the eldest of eight children, home-educated on a council estate in Wolverhampton. She published her first novel at 16 and became a columnist at The Times at 18. She has won Columnist of the Year seven times and has also been named Interviewer and Critic of the Year. Her million-selling, groundbreaking feminist memoir, How to Be a Woman, was voted one of the Sunday Times’ ‘Most Important Books of the Twenty-First Century’. Her subsequent five books were all Sunday Times Number 1 Best-Sellers, and she adapted her novel How To Build A Girl into a 2020 movie, starring Beanie Feldstein, Alfie Allen, Paddy Considine and Emma Thompson. Her Who’s Who entry lists her interests as “cava, eyeliner, hair embiggening, and The Struggle.” She lives in North London with her husband and two children, and, after following all her own advice, she really is hopeful now. - Times are approximate and may be subject to change Specific set times are only made available on the day of the event, please check the venue’s website page for the most up to date information. All ages are welcome to this event but under 14's must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18. This is a seated event and is allocated on a first come first serve basis. Robert Macfarlane & Jackie Morris: The Book of Birds
Sep 24A Field Guide to Wonder and Loss in Conversation with Patrick Barkham. Presented by Norwich Arts Centre. Doors: 18:30 Start time: 19:30 A great thinning of the skies is underway. Around 50% of bird species are in decline worldwide. Our dawns and springs are quieter each year than the last. An almost unimaginable abundance has been lost. It does not have to be this way –– but we will not save what we do not love. The Book of Birds is a compendium of forty-nine bird species, from Avocet to Yellowhammer, all of which are presently declining or endangered in Britain. Inspired by the classic bird-books with which the authors grew up, this is a field guide with a difference. It asks not ‘What is that bird?’, but ‘Who is that bird?’ It shows its readers how to identify birds, but also how to identify with them. With lyrical precision and playfulness, Robert Macfarlane evokes each bird’s habits and habitats –– their patterns of flight and of song, how they hunt and gather, how they nest and raise their young, the stories and myths which attend them, the threats which shadow them, and how their wild lives intersect with our own. And on every page we encounter Jackie Morris’s exhilarating artwork, painted in watercolour and gold and animated by an extraordinary attention to detail and sense of life. Set among this dazzling flock of species are seven sections celebrating the 'Seven Wonders' that together make up the everyday miracle of 'Bird': Nest, Egg, Beak, Song, Feather, Flight and Migration. Seven years in the making, The Book of Birds is a love letter to the splendours and mysteries of birdlife, and a clarion call to halt the loss of birds from land, sea and sky. From Dipper to Dunnock and Kestrel to Kingfisher, from mountain to ocean and city to river, Jackie Morris and Robert Macfarlane conjure the unique spirit and lifeway of each species. This is a book to be treasured by bird-lovers of all ages, and a future classic work of reference. All 49 of the birds who feature in the book have suffered significant declines in range or population over the past half-century; all 49 are or have recently been on the so-called ‘Red List’ or ‘Amber List’ of conservation concern. All 49 bird species included in the book have breeding, passage or wintering populations in the United Kingdom. - Specific set times are only made available on the day of the event, please check the venue’s website page for the most up to date information. Under 16s to be accompanied by an adult. This is a seated event and is allocated on a first come first serve basis. You cannot reserve a seat prior to the doors opening for any reason. Round Midnight presents Mammal Hands
Sep 30Presented by Norwich Arts Centre at Epic Studios. Mammal Hands stand at the forefront of a new wave of boundary-defying UK artists, blending jazz, contemporary classical, electronica, folk, and minimalism into a sound that is unmistakably theirs. Across five acclaimed albums, they’ve built an international following drawn to their warmth, dynamic energy, and deeply connective music. Their new album Circadia — the first with long-time friend and new drummer Rob Turner (formerly of GoGo Penguin) — marks a bold new direction: beat-driven, rhythmically alive, and emotionally resonant. Inspired by cycles and transformation, it’s a meditation on renewal and the beauty of change, where post-rock energy and folk sensitivity meet Turner’s electronica-inspired beats. To be released in spring 2026 on the legendary ACT label — home to the pioneering Esbjörn Svensson Trio — Circadia opens a new chapter for the band, expanding their sound and vision. From standout performances at the Barbican to tours across Asia, Mammal Hands have earned a reputation for captivating live shows. Meditative yet visceral, their performances blend driving beats and hypnotic textures —music open to anyone, spiritually uplifting, and resonating long after the last note fades. - Specific set times are only made available on the day of the event, please check the venue’s website page for the most up to date information. 14+, under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Magnum
Oct 4Plus support Doors 7:30pm Magnum Announce “The Next Chapter” — Honouring the Legacy of Tony Clarkin and Celebrating Over 50 Years of Music British rock legends Magnum are entering an exciting new era as they continue to honour the extraordinary legacy of their late founder, guitarist, and songwriter Tony Clarkin, who sadly passed away last year. With a remarkable career spanning more than five decades, Magnum have long been celebrated for their melodic power, rich storytelling, and unwavering dedication to their craft. Following Tony’s untimely passing, the band paid tribute to his life and work with a series of special performances titled “The Passage in Time” — a two-hour celebration of some of Tony’s most iconic compositions. The shows, performed by Bob Catley, Rick Benton, Lee Morris, Dennis Ward, and Brendon Riley (who stepped into Tony’s role on stage with immense pride and respect), were met with overwhelming love and gratitude from fans and the wider rock community. The energy, emotion, and shared sense of remembrance reaffirmed the band’s belief that Tony’s music — and the spirit of Magnum — must continue. In the wake of these heartfelt tributes, Dionne Clarkin, Tony’s daughter, began exploring over three decades of Magnum’s archives. Her journey uncovered a treasure trove of material — from early drafts and lyric notes that reveal the evolution of some of Magnum’s most beloved songs, to four fully completed, never-before-heard tracks that capture Tony’s creative brilliance in his final years. This discovery marks the beginning of a new chapter for Magnum — one that celebrates the band’s past while looking boldly to the future. “The support from fans has been truly overwhelming,” said the band. “Tony’s music has always been at the heart of Magnum, and with Dionne’s dedication and the incredible response from the shows, we know the story isn’t over. This is the next chapter — for Tony, for Magnum, and for everyone who has been part of this journey.” Magnum are now preparing to share this next chapter with their loyal fans around the world — continuing the band’s legacy of timeless rock and heartfelt storytelling. - Specific set times are only made available on the day of the event, please check the venue’s social media channels (@epicnorwich) for the most up to date information. 14+, under 16s to be accompanied by an adult over 18. The Hanging Stars
Nov 7London’s The Hanging Stars return with their sixth album, Just A Day – a dazzling collection of four-part harmonies, shimmering twelve-string guitars and chiming songs, touching on themes of longing, new beginnings and the fragility of the everyday. Recorded at Edwyn Collin’s legendary Clashnarrow Studios in the Scottish Highlands, the album marks a bold new chapter for the band, produced by Teenage Fanclub's Gerard Love and Dexy’s Sean Read. A line-up change at the end of 2024 proved to be a galvanising moment for The Hanging Stars. “We needed to rethink things,” says guitarist Patrick Ralla. “A new leaner approach – bass, drums, guitars, four-part harmonies. Certainly worked for The Byrds, Big Star and Teenage Fanclub.” The result is a wonderfully energising record full of catchy hooks and a renewed vision. The songs are designed to take the listener away from it all… even if it's just for a little while. Central to the record’s new direction was the involvement of Gerard Love – one third of Teenage Fanclub’s celebrated songwriting trio and the artist behind Lightships. Starting from demos exchanged between Glasgow and London, Love helped the band strip things back to their essence, ever so gently guiding them toward their finest work to date. He also joined the band for a week of recording, contributing vocals, arrangement ideas and by all accounts a mean vegan curry. Just A Day is The Hanging Stars’ third album to be recorded at Clashnarrow Studios, Helmsdale located in the most idyllic setting imaginable, thirty minutes south of John O’Groats and overlooking the Moray Firth. The studio, owned and run by Edwyn Collins and Grace Maxwell, is a place the band describe with reverence: “a sort of mixture between Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and the BBC’s Repair Shop”. The band recorded the core of the album in a single week in February 2025, using Edwyn’s vintage gear – including the Gretsch Blackhawk he used in his Orange Juice days and the Barnes and & Mullins fuzz box heard on a “A Girl Like You”. The Hanging Stars’ connection with Edwyn Collins extends beyond just using his studio, Patrick plays guitar in Edwyn’s band and they were invited to support Collin’s momentous 2025 Testimonial Tour – A Last Lap Around The UK with dates including The Royal Festival Hall in London and the Theatre Royal in Glasgow. The new album was produced and engineered by longtime collaborator Sean Read, with overdubs and mixing completed at Read’s Famous Times Studios over the spring of 2025, and additional recording at bassist Paul Milne’s Seagull Studios in East London. Drummer Paulie Cobra anchors the record with his defining beat, lending his voice to the soaring four-part harmonies. A core figure in the band’s story, Cobra has embarked on a prolonged sabbatical, making way for their new live drummer Charlie Salvidge (TOY, Proper Ornaments, Great Silkie) who will join the band on the road. Frontman and songwriter Richard Olson reaches a creative high point with Just A Day, which opens in a surge of optimism with “All Your Yesterdays”, to “The Glasshouse”’s twelve-string-jangle-meets-New-York-circa-1976 meditation on wealth and class, to “Let It Slide” a feel-good track with a sting in its tail, to the country gospel drone of “Big Red Car” and meditative title track “Just A Day” laments for the day just gone. There are additional compositions from Patrick Ralla (“Keep On Making Me Wait”) and the first inclusion for bassist Paul Milne who wrote the party track “Show Me The Way”. Their sound evokes classic sounds from the past with an ear towards the future, from The Byrds via Big Star, to The Feelies, Spiritualized, Teenage Fanclub and Tom Petty. Or think Lou Reed and the Velvets jamming with Gorkys Zygotic Mynci. The result is an album that feels simultaneously classic and vibrant, their influences worn lightly giving the songs room to breathe. “gorgeous” ★★★★ THE TIMES "The album exhibits a newfound, confident composure - like Teenage Fanclub, they’re more than the sum of their parts" UNCUT "glowing, cosmic UK Americana...a set of epic soundtracks conjuring kindred spirits Teenage Fanclub and the Velvets" ★★★★ MOJO “masters in their field” ★★★★ SHINDIG! “gorgeous, shimmering music” BOB HARRIS, BBC RADIO 2
